Charles A. Dana, editor of the Newspaper "The Sun," was an intellectual and had a passion for Chinese porcelain. Following his death, his family sold the collection in 1898 so that items would be in the possession of someone who could care for them properly. According to the New York Times, the sale realized $115, 124 in total for his "ceramic collection."

Charles A. Dana, editor of the Newspaper "The Sun," was an intellectual and had a passion for Chinese porcelain. Following his death, his family sold the collection in 1898 so that items would be in the possession of someone who could care for them properly. According to the New York Times, the sale realized $115, 124 in total for his "ceramic collection."
