Emilie Grigsby came to New York and built her mansion at the corner of Park Avenue and 67th Street before 1900. Advising her how to furnish the home was Charles Yerkes, a well-known collector himself.
After moving abroad, her household furnishings were auctioned by the New York auction house, Anderson Galleries in 1912.
